The author was abuducted by the Taliban in 2007 while working as a short-term volunteer in Afghanistan. She was held captive for forty days before being dramatically released.
In the years since her captivity she has written about the events that took place during that time. In addition to this book, she has also published , a novel about an Afghan girl she met in one of the houses where she was held captive. In addition to writing about her experiences, she continues to pray for the church of God to be established everywhere the blood of the martyrs has been shed.
